Astrophysics Research
Our group studies some of the most energetic processes in the Universe through observations of very high-energy gamma-rays and ultra energetic cosmic rays, with associated work in the optical, radio, and X-ray regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Our theoretical effort is in the areas of high energy particle production in astrophysical objects, and is closely related to the experimental work done here. The focus is trying to explain how such high energy particles can be produced, and involves study of objects such as: Active Galactic Nuclei, accreting neutron stars and supernova remnants. Please send initial enquiries regarding postgraduate study with the astrophysics group to Bruce Dawson. He will pass on the enquiry to the appropriate person. Site Areas
